2011 Chairman’s Message
Serving as Chairman of the Board of the Moniteau County regional Economic Development Council for 2011 was truly an honor and an experience that I will cherish forever. My appreciation goes to the Board of Directors, the communities that support our mission, and our dedicate members for their hard work and support of the MRED’s goals during this past year. I would also like to thank our professional staff for their support and guidance throughout the year.
The 2011 Annual Report is an outline of historical accomplishments as well as a look forward to the MRED’s business plan for 2012 and beyond. The MRED, historically, has set its goals and objectives consistent with our mission of providing leadership and service to promote economic growth and industrial development for the Moniteau County area. To accomplish this we rely on the financial investment of our membership as well as the investment of time given by our many committee members and volunteers from the business community. This commitment allowed us to accomplish many things in 2011, as highlighted below:
Began the application process for an Enhanced Enterprise Zone
Increased our membership by 10%, with a 99% retention rate and one organization doubling their investment rate
Maintained communication with the membership through our web site, monthly newspaper articles, and frequent email contact
Partnered with the MMRPC and CORE to pursue further economic development opportunities
Saw our first business established under our entrepreneurship program, with a new business established in Tipton as well.
The MRED has been successful in the past and will continue to move forward because of the dedication and commitment of its members. We are fortunate to be a part of such a fine community of hard working people willing to share and work for the betterment of Moniteau County. We cannot rest on our laurels however, we must continue to look to the future for ways to improve and grow. Doing what we’ve always done will get us the results we’ve always got, and we are striving to be even better.
Sincerely,
Mike Kelley 2011 Chairman of the Board

Establish an Enhanced Enterprise Zone for the County of Moniteau History of the MRED
The Moniteau County Regional Economic Development Council was “born” in the fall of 2006 from the dedication and drive of several key individuals within the county. Several goals were established during the initial phase of the organization, and those goals are still alive today; preservation of jobs and creating jobs. The organization also had the goal established to hire an Executive Director to run the day to day operations and promote the organizational goals and objectives. While the initial idea was to create a full time position, it was deemed more advantageous to create a part time position with the intention that it could become full time after a couple of years. That goal was achieved in the fall of 2009 with the hiring of a part time individual to grow the organization and the intention to make it full time in 2012. We strive to keep our membership up to date through our web site, weekly emails, and monthly radio spots and newspaper articles. Our monthly meetings have been well attended also and information is shared that helps assist our membership base. We will continue to provide a quality service for all concerned with the dedication that the MRED is the organization to belong to if you want the best return on your investment. We don’t just do things, we make things happen.
